Tomo was born in Gifu on a day when the snow gods went overboard — a foot of powder overnight. Her grandfather, suddenly cast as a sherpa in an action film, carried his laboring daughter through waist‑deep drifts to the main road, where a taxi driver waited, expecting skiers but instead picking up a brand‑new life.

Vermonter who learned to ski at our local ski bowl, smuggs, and the occasional Jay Peak before moving to Steamboat Springs 20+ years ago. Single Mom to a now 18-year-old. Professor-Scholar and former National Endurance Athlete. Nickname is HollyWood. Motto is that love is always the answer.

What began as a dream for my children became my own later-in-life obsession. From my first turns in Chamonix to slopes across the globe, my skiing has transformed. I've traded dawn-to-dusk, all-weather endurance for the pure joy of fair-weather runs from a cozy ski-in/ski-out base. I even spent one epic season touring 23 resorts out of my

It taught me a beautiful truth: everything comes in its own time, and some joys are meant for a season. The key is to be fully in it while it lasts. Do it, and do it now.
